A big highlight of the summer was to be asked to photograph Emma and Jamie’s wedding at the Cadhay Estate in Devon. Years in the planning, they had hired the place for the whole weekend and taken care of every detail. By putting their guests first Emma and Jamie could sit back and relax and enjoy the great party they had created. Cadhay house was built in 1550 and is set in beautiful landscaped gardens. All guests were staying in the house or adjacent cottages, arriving on Friday evening for the Saturday wedding. Many guests stayed until Sunday when a bouncy castle was delivered, more for the grown ups than the few children who were there.
This really was a dream of a wedding. Beautiful couple, friendly family and friends, fun atmosphere and stunning surroundings. It really was difficult to shoot a bad angle both in the house and around the gardens. I’ve included more photos than I normally would in the post, simply because I couldn’t choose which ones to take out.
I love these guys.
“We wanted our photos to be different to anyone else’s. All other weddings look the same with formal group shots etc. we just wanted something a little bit different.” – Emma
I hope you enjoy this set and would contact me to discuss your own wedding photography plans if you’re planning a wedding at Cadhay or anywhere else with a bit of a twist.
“I didn’t want traditional – I hate that. Our wedding wasn’t going to be a traditional affair so I didn’t want the photos to be.” – Jamie
“We wanted someone who would be a bit different from the ordinary wedding photographers. Someone who could capture the day without us standing for hours having group shots.” – Emma
“We planned on a relaxed, fairly informal day and needed a photographer who could blend in with the crowd. We didn’t want a pushy photographer and we didn’t want too many formal shots of friends and family.”
“I had seen Owens photos before and the main thing that stood out to me was his creativity. He is able to capture moments, whether that be landscapes, people or animals, in a unique way.” – Emma
“During the planning stages we thought Owen was very attentive and his communication was excellent. He took on board everything we had to say and suggested some things we hadn’t even thought of. ” – Jamie
“The photos which I thought I would least enjoy ( the group ones) were actually one of my favourite parts of the day, and that is down to Owen.” – Emma
“We chose Owen as our wedding photographer because he made us feel completely at ease during our pre wedding meeting. He is a great guy with loads of amazing ideas. We knew he would do a great job and had no hesitation in booking him.”
“Owen developed great relationships with the guests during the wedding and made everyone feel at ease. He was very discreet when capturing natural shots, we didn’t even know he was there half the time! During the group shots he was very natural at organising us. There were no fake poses, it was all natural and Owen was excellent and making everyone feel comfortable. This really shows in the photos.”
“Owen was busy snapping away during the ‘champagne and canapé reception’ and these shots prove why he is the best – lots of beautiful, natural and happy shots of the people we love the most during our most special day.” – Jamie
